    Can't "silence" ringer

If I am getting a phone call and I don't want to answer, but also don't want to hit "IGNORE" so the person won't know I just ignored their call, I just press one of the side buttons or another button to silence the ringer, but then 3 seconds later, it will start ringing again. Is there a way to silence the ringer the entire time my phone is ringing? I have to press a button 3 times to silence the ringer each time it starts up again.

Hmmm, Good info. My friends were bugging me about getting obviously ignored.

Vibrate mode will silence the ringer.

I'm glad I read this post, I didn't realize ignore automatically shunted the call to voicemail! I thought it just muted the ringer! And if vibrate doesn't cut it, the quiet mode sure will!

Meh -- who cares? I'm not always available for many valid reasons that I don't need to justify. However, I guess YMMV.

It's much faster to hit mute than to attempt to change profiles with an incoming call.

Go to your profiles option screen (where it has Loud, Vibrate, Quiet, Normal, Phone Only) and scroll all the way down. Select Advanced and highlight the profile you want to change, press the menu key and select edit. Under the phone options make sure Tone is the only one selected instead of Vibrate+Tone. Do this with all the profiles you want it to occur since the default is Vibrate+Tone for all except Quiet and Vibrate.
