I have a Blackberry 8350i with v4.6, Docs to Go 1.006.051 (did get the latest update), and a BES Server v4.1.2.20. I use Office 2007 and when I try opening any Word 2007 attachment in Email on the BB (I do have the Open Attachment Option) I get a red x and then the error: Unrecognized document format. I have searched various forums but have not found a solution. I have tried saving the doc down to an earlier Word version, as a .doc, not docx, and this did not help. I cannot open any Office docs or PDF's. I am hoping someone can help me.
I just created a simple word doc and tested it and it failed opening on the blackberry with the same error, "unrecognized document format". I'm attaching it here.
I had this problem earlier today when trying to open up a .docx, which was the first time I had attempted to view an Office 07 document on my BB and I received the same error message. I did a battery pull on the device later after installing Pandora and I have no problems opening the .docx after I tried again.
Try a battery pull and see if that resolves your issue.

I was able to open this document with no problems.

I was wondering if it was a bug with my blackberry model, but we also have the 7100i's here and we get the same error. This leads me to believe it may be something not right on my blackberry server? Any ideas?
Assign the device to the DEFAULT IT policy on the BES Console and Resend service books to the device and then try to open the document. If it opens then it’s an issue with the IT Policy you created. If it doesn’t open then I would reinstall Docs 2 Go.

Ice44. Check with your BES admin. Resending your service books, though a good idea, I don't believe that will solve your issue. Your issue may have to do with your BES, as stated previously. The IT policy settings may resolve this issue.
I was able to open the posted document on my 8330 OS 4.3 no problem by using a work around that almost always is successful. Convert the doc to any number of file types using the default conversion software in OpenOffice (opensource/free and far superior to your M$ Office on Vista ). If you don't have Openoffice go to Openoffice.org to down load and you can down load free of charge the software free no strings.
