~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~i wonder why they wouldn't allow you to do that. Maybe for privacy issues? Oh well. Thanks for the info!

Yes, you cannot change the shutter tone. Seems like it is a privacy issue since blackberrys are mostly used in a working, office enviroment.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ if I knew what I was doing, I'd try to find the shutter sound file and replace it with a blank sound file. But I don't and def don't want to start messing around with things I know nothing about. Lol

you can also call your voicemail, turn the volume way down and click...you won't hear the shutter.

    Re: camera shutter

Most newer model phones you see coming out of foreign makers, such as Korea & Japan, will not allow for it to be disabled (directly) since both countries have laws requiring phone makers to do so. Even though our nation hasn't passed a law to require this, you will still see some handset makers following the sentiment and growing trend in law rather than waiting and being forced to go through the process of updating all phones. There have been growing issues with camera phone voyeurism in asian countries and now here in America. In the US an act was passed a few years back called the 'Video Voyeurism Prevention Act of 2004' and it was amended to include camera phones.

I don't know how much good it has done, but it's there on the law books.

    On the law books?

Please quote the source. I see this passed off as the reason for the inability to remove the "click".
Do any of us really know it's true? Not once have I see the actual language of the law posted.
Until I do, I refuse to believe, "I heard it from this other board where this guys said he read about it on slashdot..."

Yes you can turn it off, there is this app called "Berryannoying" look it up, it works great. It's not free but pretty cheap.
