Boost Blackberry curve 8330 operamini issues
I been away from the BB's for about 8 months. I decided to get a curve again but this time thru Boost previously from sprint same model phone. When I left the BB's they were running 4.5 OS now I'm running 5.0. What's new? I also noticed that opera mini 5 keep freezing up. Why? And do anyone else have this issue?
I ran 5.0 on my 8330 for a few months and had NOTHING but problems:
- very little free memory to start with because 5.0 takes so much of it,
- constant memory leaks,
- hangups trying to browse the net or execute an app,
- a number of the phones functions worked a little strangly too, etc.
About all I could do was make calls and view simple emails. I just recently downgraded to 4.5 and I'm back to "normal" again. I suggest that if you're hanging up you start to look at your free memory - you probably have a lot of daily reboots in your future if you stay on 5.0. The 8330 really doesn't have enough memory to run it IMO.
For every complex problem there is a solution, that is simple, neat, .....and wrong! (H. L. Mencken) jblackfish(at)pinstack(dot)com
Where can get 4.5 for the Boost 8330? Or should I just get another carrier's?
There is no 4.5 for Boost, use the Sprint 4.5 OS.
Thanks for the advice. I used the Sprint one. Reclaimed oven 20mb (yeah, I'm not mistaken) of memory. The device is much more responsive. I'm gonna test this one for a while and see how it goes.
Seems that oper mini is not ready for 5.0.I got a new 8330 with Boost Mobile and 4.0 is very laggy and thinks to much with the hour glass. For those having the same problems, just downgrade to 4.5 and wait to see how it reacts.
I think with Opera Mini it is more a memory issue. I find it will hang on my Bold 9000. When I clean up the memory it works fine again. I am running 4.6.
