Try asking the other person to add you. In turn, you would have to accept it. The other person should show up on your buddy list. For some unknown reason, that has happened to my previous bb before, too. See if that works?

hi kyo0tdemon. there were 5 of us all trying - none of us could accept without the other person disappearing - the request goes through successfully, we can accept them, and they show up, but the contact disappears almost immediately

Yeah, there are a couple ways to figure out what your PIN is. You can either press the left alt, left shift and the h button simultaneously and find your PIN there or go to Options>Status and you should see your PIN.

    Re: BlackBerry Messenger help needed

i am adding them via email - i have them listed in contacts with their email address, and we all have the data plan. i go to messenger, menu, add a contact, choose the person from my address book, and send the request. i know we can do it pin to pin, but just frustrated as to why its not working through the email.

Make sure you have the other person's PIN in your address book.

    ~via DaXBerry (wap.pinstack.com)~

Also makes sure both phones have a data plan. The BB Messenger only works with a data plan.

I never had any luck with email either, even though RIM says its supported....try this.
    Open BBM
    Menu
    Add a Contact
Scroll up to "Use Once" DO NOT SELECT, just highlight.
    Menu
Here is where I would "request by pin", but you can try the email option again using this proceedure and see if it works better . Let us know!

    Re: BlackBerry Messenger help needed

Also, from another thread I found...
    http://blackberryforums.pinstack.com...enger_faq.html

What is a PIN, and where do I find mine?
A PIN is an eight digit alpha-numeric sequence that is assigned to every BlackBerry device. You can find your PIN code by going to Options>Status>PIN. You can also find your PIN number by typing "mypin" into an email (no quotes). The BlackBerry will automatically insert your PIN number.

How do I add a contact to BlackBerry Messenger?
Follow the instructions as posted in my previous thread: [url="http://blackberryforums.pinstack.com/showthread.php?t=38609"]How to: Add a BB Messenger Contact Via Pin

Let me know if it works when you try it tomorrow.

try this, remove their email and keep the PIN, then add them. I had this prob before. once they are added, then you can add the email addy for them.

I have this same issue as well. I have followed all of the suggestions above but still have no luck. Has anyone figured this out??
