    Re: Blackberry Maps

Is Blackberry Maps different from what came with the curve "Telnav"? For the last two days I've been playing with "GoogleMaps" and found that to be much better to the one that came with Curve. Actually, the one that they show on the Iphone is "GoogleMaps" works the same on the Curve...

I have XP SP2 and get that error.

Also, my Curve didnt come with Telnav. I got the AT&T 8300 two days ago. Wish they came preloaded with the sw thats advertised on their curve website.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~my 8300 is from ATT and came loaded with Telenav. I could be wrong but I believe ATT disabled BB maps somehow.

    Re: Blackberry Maps

I have the TeleNav app but when I go to set it up it disappears. Then I have the BB Maps on my DM in the apps loader but it doesnt show up on my screen nor in my service books. I wish I hadn't deleted my 8700g service books. I could've gotten it from there.

Telnav is a subscription based service. Its 3D turn by turn GPS navigation. BB Maps isn't as advanced, but doesn't need a subscription either, same as Google Maps (which is the best for quick directions and local search IMO)

I also been using google maps and love it. Its very easy to use and the business finder on it is a life saver. You never have to use 411 again with the telephone numbers for all business on it ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

    Re: Blackberry Maps

Blackberry maps can be installed on the AT&T branded curve. Download the latest OS from the AT&T website, install it on your PC, navigate to c:/program files/common files/research in motion/shared/loader files. In that folder you'll see a folder for each OS you have installed. open the folder for the latest 8300 OS, find a file called LBS.alx. Open it in word pad. Search for each place where the number "102" appears and change it to 100 or anything other than 102. Save the file. Run the application loader and select to install maps. Enjoy.

you also need to purchase a 100.00 blue tooth module to use the GPS functionality of Telenav. That functions was built in on the 8800, but RIM didn't include that inthe Curve.

You are not wrong, they did disable access to BB Maps, tried both OTA and thru the blackberry site, got a message that the carrier is not allowing access.
Must have hired a verizon engineer to block access...
