    As of right now the only thing we've heard about using the flash as a flashlight is that the flash is not an led it is an actual camera flash and thusly would burn out the flash after a short time.~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

    The flash is an LED, not a stroboscopic camera flash. It won't burn out.

    On a curve 8330, you can just activate the video camera and configure the LED light to stay on. That's a bright flashlight!

    Same with 8300, but you must be using os 4.5 to ge the video camera.

    I'm glad I kept reading before I decided to post, but that's exactly what I was going to suggest. It works great as a flashlight on my curve but only after I installed 4.5.

    I'm doing the same, the only issue I have is that it takes a few seconds for the video camera to get going.
