    BB Pearl vs BB Curve

Looking for your input. I'm on the verge of upgrading my current BB with a Pearl or Curve. Not sure which way to go.

Anyone with insight who has used both?

I prefer the curve - i need all my keys for all the emailing and messaging I do.

You got to like the keyboard on the Curve over the Pearl. That right there should make you pick the Curve.

Yep, thanks for the replies. I do like the full keyboard idea, just wasn't sure if the compactness of the Pearl was the winner

Re: BB Pearl vs BB Curve

I've got both and see the value with each.

If your looking for a small form factor where you can just slip the phone into your shirt pocket, the Pearl wins hands down.

If your looking for a full keyboard and a smaller form factor then it's the curve.

The suretype on the Pearl really works very well and once you get used to it you really don't need the full keyboard. But if you plan on using your BB for heavy email then I'd look to the Curve. The one thing the Curve has over the Pearl is a spell checker for emails and SMS text msgs.

I just got back from a three day out of town meeting. I decided to take the Curve and leave my laptop behind. I really had no issues. In fact I was viewing powerpoint decks on the Curve and routing them around.

I have run into a problem that hits both BB's. How clean is the web browser for sites with Flash and Javascripts. IE using the browser to check in to my flights, and going to some web pages where the screen just never came up.

I've had both. Both are great, but like everyone else who uses the 8300-the keyboard cant be beat! My wife has the red 8100, she says it fits her hand better. Pick your poison. Either way, its BlackBerry at its finest.

The choice is pretty simple. You either want the annoyance of using the suretype of the Pearl or the beauty of the qwerty keyboard of the Curve. I upgraded from the Pearl to the Curve a while back & it was the perfect choice for me

Re: BB Pearl vs BB Curve

As people circle around this topic, it comes down to:

Are you a heavy emailer/txt-er or not, AND how much of a mobility do you need. I think the curve is better, but if you are the type that goes clubbing, a woman who doesn't carry a purse, or do not have big pockets...then the pearl seems better.

It all depends on your needs.

I have used both and every one has brought up good points but a thing no one has brought up yet that I really liked over the pearl was the screen size. The curves bigger screen is a whole lot nicer... Just my 2 cents. ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

Re: BB Pearl vs BB Curve

I have owned both full keyboard and SureType BB's (my full keyboard BB's were a 7730 and before that a 950). I'm more of a heavy emailer and data user. However, due to not having very many places to put a full keyboard BB and being unable to walk and type at the same time (due to disability), I have had to go with (and absolutely LOVE) the SureType BB's (7100t, 7105t, and 8100).

However, if you get this chance and I hope you do, take each of them for a keyboard test drive and see which one you think you can type on the best. I hope to pick up a newer full KB BB for home use next year and keep my Pearl for out of home usage. Gonna be swapping my SIM card but that's my choice LOL

Good luck. Let us know the decision.

    Also owned both....

First question when you say pearl do you mean 8100 or 8130?
That would make a huge difference IMO
The old Pearl vs. the Curve = Curve hands down.

Otherwise its really subjective. When i got my Pearl i hated Suretype for all of a week and then i thought it was better than qwerty.
The got a Curve and could never see myself going back.
Also someone noted how you carry it day to day makes a huge difference. Pearl is great to fit in a pocket but the curve isnt too far off either.
    Good Luck

I've owned an 8100 and now own an 8320. I agree with everything said above and would like to add that the picture quality of the 8320 vs the 8100 is better.

Re: BB Pearl vs BB Curve

I just upgraded from a Pearl to a Curve and I love it. The Suretype on the Pearl gave me fits, otherwise it was okay. The Curve, to date, is the best BB produced (in my humble opinion).

That's so true! The choice varies depending on your distinctive needs.I used to own a pearl and I loved it (aside from the suretype). But then the Curve came along & bam! Love at first sight.Hehe.
Both are great BlackBerries in their own way but there's only one champ, the Curve.
