Yes you may as long as you have the right os and that you follow the deleting the vendor.xml file if it comes from another provider.

No reason why not. Upgrading your OS/Apps will not make it locked again.

My current provider is Fido and they do not support BB. Can I use the Rogers upgrade?

    Thanks for your help.

yeah you can use any carriers OS as long as it's for your SPECIFIC phone.

just make sure you delete the vendor.xml file.

Amosto - Rogers bought Fido...gee...must be two years ago now. It's the same network, so, yep, you definitely can use the Rogers upgrade

Can you tell me where to delete this file from and how? This would be my first time so I really wouldn't want to make a mistake and be without a BB.

    Your help is much appeciated.

First - are you on BIS, BES or both? (if you're on a BES, there's other considerations for you after the upgrade).

Think this link will cut down a couple of clicks for you:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/devices/

You should get to a page where you specify your carrier (in this case, specify Rogers) and then specify your model and you should get to the download link.

    amosto

the vendor.xml file is located in
    C:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader

just delete the file and then plug your phone in and run Desktop manager
    should just auto update.
