Question backup contacts on to computer

Hi, I've had my blackberry for 4 months, bought it used. I need to erase prior users email addresses. The manual says to use the "blackberry setup" icon, but I can't find it. If I can't use the setup I am willing to put my data on the computer and then wipe the device.

Thats the best way. Back up your data with desktop manager, then use the device wipe feature found here:

    Options
    Security
    General Settings
    Menu
    Wipe Handheld

This will clear all your data bases and remove all of the email accounts. Then resend your service books to get your email accounts back.

    Using Linux to backup files?

Sorry, but I'm not a geek and my husband insists on Linux, I don't know how to use the desktop manager.

Also, if you have a web email address such as yahoo or gmail I would email the backup to yourself that way even if you pc crashes you will have some kind of backup and will always have access to it
