    Backing up applications and themes

Sorry but I searched first and was unable to find an answer....I need to reload my OS for my Sprint 8330, I'm not a BB novice by any stretch but yet have never had to reinstall my OS. I have backed up my current info via DM but I wasnt sure if that includes themes and applications? If it doesnt what is the best way that i can keep my themes and applications since all of them have been downloaded via OTA? Thanks!!

Back-ups inlcude themes & apps. Upon restore, you can choose to install the apps.

once you're done re-loading the OS, just use your backup to restore it to your device.

**make sure when loading the OS it backs up your device prior to the install.

if you have to use jlcommander to wipe your phone, then you will have to download all the apps, themes, etc. again.

oh and Welcome to the stacks!!

From my experience OTA themes and app's are kind of hit an miss when you back up and restore. I would assume you will loose most, note what you have and where you got it, and make sure that you have the registration codes for any you purchased so you can re-register.

Also if this is an upgrade the loader will do a complete back up and restore if you choose, otherwise if you want to back up your messages you need to go into the options screen on Back Up and indicate that.

I would be prepared to loose them...let us know how it turns out. What OS are you running / loading? And why are you re-installing your device OS?

Yeah, games & apps that have registration codes you will have to re-enter or email the company and have them send you an updated registration code. Just tell them you upgraded devices or had to reinstall your OS and they will give you a new code.

The whole reason I am re-installing my OS is because weeks ago i notice hat my BB was lagging and always gettin the hour glass. So i read that i may need to clear my error logs so i did. So after that when I attempt to use Sprint TV I keep getting a message asking if I trust the certificate which i do select but it keeps asking me to enter the handheld key store password which I am positive I have never set. So Ive read that the only way to get around it is if you reload the OS. So thats why im in this mess...

Also I'm currently running 4.3 OS.....not ready to take the chance on the 4.5 until Sprint releases it officially.
