Thumbs down ARGH!! block a number!?!?

for real, this is getting old.

There is some 800 number that calls my phone 4 times a day. When i answer it, it just disconnects, no one is on the other end. If i try to call it back, either from the BB or another phone, i get a voice prompt saying the 800 number does not accept incoming calls.

So, i assume this is some marketing call.

How do i stop it!? Will ATT block this number if I ask? I haven't had a chance to call ATT, so i wanted to run it by all of you.

    thanks

i also put the phone # into GooGle when I dont know who its from.
There are a few sites that will list who the call origniated from. Call them back and have them take you their lists or whatever

If this doesn't throw my trust level to a thousand i don't know what will....

Very simple to get rid of all telemarketing and crap.

goto my website and download this wav file....

    http://www.kradest.com/SIT.wav

On your voicemail/answering machine, RECORD A NEW MESSAGE PLAYING THIS TONE FIRST and then wait 1 second and make your message....

Why do this???? telemarketers use computers that call your number and wait to see if you pick up, if you do, the phone on the other end is dead, and they put your number on an active list. This message will popon, and tell the computer your line is disconnected, it will then take you off the list...

If you are on the list, later that day someone asshat will call and harrass you.

I have this on all my phones and it works great... Just make sure to clue your friends in, some are not that bright...

    :-)

    questions? let me know.

There's no doubt (if there ever was any) that knowledge is power...
Thanks for the info Krad, I can't wait to get it set-up on my BB.
Might just have to try it out on the home phone too !

May also want to check out post #3 on this thread. I used it for a couple numbers and it seems to have worked. Just another possibility...

    you welcome!

They say you dont have to do it for cell phones, that they are not giving the number out, but i know for a fact thats untrue. So i registered all my numbers lol.

look up the number at whocalled.us http://whocalled.us/ This is a user supported/reported community so I found it to be very useful.

I would really recommend Black & Whitelist It allows you to block "private numbers" as well as "unknown numbers" or any number you want to add to the blacklist. When numbers are added to the blacklist your BB will no longer ring when a call comes in from this number. The caller will assume the BB is off due to the fact that the call will go straight to voicemail. It also has the whitelist option, that only allows numbers on toyr whitelist to make it through (there is a address book option that will only allow numbers stored in your BB to make it through as well)

I have used this prog w/ my Pearl as well as my Curve, and I would say it is a must have.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~is there a program out there that will give the caller a busy signal? No transfer to voicemail but just a busy signal. Thx
