I think RIM have mad an improvement, my have have the white pearl, and I had a blue pearl, the blue pearl's track ball is rough (much better), I haven't tried out the 8310, I'm guessing RIM did the same thing, just like the Pearl's

If you go into the "Options" then select "screen/keyboard" there is a Trackball setting at the bottom that will allow you to change the setting of the "audible roll" to "mute". Might make a difference. I keep mine muted.

i was just thinking the same thing about the 8320 the other day, it does help a little to mute it, i tried it on our store demos, but both the demos and my own phone have that "piece of sand" feel to them. only notice it because my pearl's pearl was so smoooooooth!

My curve started like that, it eventually went away, or just wore down and got smoother after use.

I noticed it too. As long as it doesn't break I'm ok with it.

I have a question on your 8320, when you get a call and you accidently or intentionally move the track ball does it affect the ringtone? Mine makes a static noise if i move the track ball..anyone elses doing this?

I think this was brought up before, the phone ringtone would get staticy if the ball is rolled while it's ringing. I don't remember which tone it affected. I can't find the original thread right now though.

    Rough trackball

Our BB rep said they made a change to make it more rough to give it a more accurate feel when rolling. BS? No idea, that was what they said...
