Won't free up any room as they are in the firmware just as is the splash screen at stratup and a few other things (unless they have recently changed something as that is the way it has been for other devices as well).

Correct, you should see a small lock next to built in ringtones, sample video, and some preinstalled images. They can't be deleted.

the only way to not have them is to install the OS fresh, and remove the .cod files for them. You can do that with the sample video also.
The ringtones is usually something like net_rim_bb_media_tune*.cod
The sample video is usually net_rim_bb_medialoader_video*.cod

You can also remove a few other things like brickbreaker, password keepe, and all the foreign language files to free up space (they will end the file name with _fr, _es etc)

Thanks Cliff, I forgot about that option (although probably only an option for the advanced users). Have you done it and did it really free up that much memory (the vidoe and password keeper can be done through the upgrade option through DM as well).

Re: Anyway to delete factory ringtones?

yeah I do this and the video it self is like 2.2mb.
Then there are the other languages .cod files (the _fr, _es) are an additional 4mb
    password keeper and PTT 230kb
    Tmobile fave 5 apprx 900kb

I thought the setup wizard removed these language files, but deleting the COD files made DM delete files on the BB and reboot. And with the PTT/Tmobile files not sure if this is loaded only by vendor ID but deleting these COD files also made it delete files on the BB and reboot.

Now I'm up to 20mb free space, was 12.9mb the other day before doing this.
