Does anyone know if the 8gb memory will work on a 8310

I was looking at Verizon's website and they are now selling an 8gb memory card but it states that not all devices will support that memory card. It did say it would support the 8130 but I figured it would but don't want to spend the money unless I know its going to work if you know what I mean.

Works very well on my 8330

Hi there. Just bought a Curve from Telus and added a SanDisk 8GB chip...works like a charm on the newest 4.3 OS.

Lots of confusion here between 8310 & 8130...

For the record, the CDMA-based 8130 (Sprint, VZ, Alltel, US Cellular etc) will DEFINITELY support up to 8GB microSDHC cards today.

The GSM-based 8310 (AT&T, T-Mobile etc) will DEFINITELY NOT support anything larger than 4GB today.

When OS 4.5 (date still unknown) is released by RIM - 83xx (Curve), 8100 (Pearl) and 8800s & 8830s will also support up to 8GB... as well as many other eagerly anticipated upgrade features.

Yes - there are beta copies of an OS 4.3 for the Curve/Pearl floating around, please do "not" ask for URLs to them here and use AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

TMO Has the 8320, which till the SW update will not support over 4, the 8830 which just came out. and is still on 4.2 and would not go about 4 yet either, and yesterday released the 8120 which runs 4.3.0.115, have not tried and 8 gig in it, but it is supposed to support it.

    Right...

The 8320 will NOT support more than 4GB.

The 8820 (think you meant) although just released is indeed running OS 4.2.2.xxx and only supports up to 4GB right now.

The 8120 (Pearl 2) DOES SUPPORT up to 8GB microSDHC cards today as it is running OS 4.3.x.xxx.

We all continue waiting (some more patiently than others ) the release of OS 4.5!
