    Is it common for the cover at the bottom of the 8310 to be lose? if not, how do i go about getting that fixed?

    yeah my 8320 is like that, i think all of the 83xx series are like that. if you notice thats where the carrier logo is located so i think thats where they put which carrier is getting that device or if they are going to brand some of the just RIM you know

    just about every 8300 and 8310 model that i have touched either had that problem from the manufacturer or it developed over time (even with very delicate handling). i have returned 3 phones myself for this exact issue. its a design flaw for sure. hopefully RIM will figure this out and resolve with subsequent models.... i would gladly deal with this issue if my phone had HSDPA, but alas lol.

    I have the 8310 and I have the same problem. So I went back to AT&T and returned my hpone for a new one. The one I have now is pretty solid. Much better than the last one I had.
    I checked the working models at the store and they were like that too. And I even checked the ones the store clerks had and it was the same. So yea I guess it is a design flaw

    I popped off the bottom cover and added a a small piece of folded payer on the inside (not covering the mic hole) and popped it back on. Now it's tight and feels completely firm.
