You know, this really is about opinion.

I think that for some it really is a great idea to not have insurance.

For myself, I have insurance. I know that I have to pay the $5.99 a month and then pay a deductible, but I really love my Curve and plan to stick with it for awhile. As others have said...it seems like burden, until I need it.

The way I see it is that why would you pay so much money for a device and then not insure it? I mean, if you really think about it the phone is like an investment that needs to be protected. lol. Ya, it might be a high deductable to get an insured replacement, but it will cost you less to get an insured replacement then to buy a brand new curve outright? You know what I mean? Hope this helps.

The insurance helps me out a LOT.

I had 3 Pearls and 2 SideKick 3's last year alone and only paid $30 for them ($15 3-day shipping on the first replacement 8100, FREE shipping on the second replacement 8100, and $15 for the first replacement SK3).

With my track record of having to replace defective phones, $5.99 is the best thing I could have done. It's also helped out on the slew of 77xx and 71xx series BB's, hp iPaq's, and other SK's I have had since I went to T-Mo. I think the ONLY phones I have had that HAVE NOT been replaced (although I should have since it didn't work properly right out of the box) were my POS Samsung e635 slider, and my Color SK that just died 3 years ago.
