    Alternative to jivetalk besides ebuddy?

Anyone know any aim programs that work with wifi besides jivetalk and ebuddy? Ebuddy doesn't seem to work for me as it refuses to connect even with the 3 permissions set on.

I think IM+ may work over wifi. Why not just use JiveTalk? ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

I would suggest trying out Instango.

    http://instango.com/

It has a lot of potential to be better than Jivetalk. Right now it is still in beta for BB, so there are bugs here and there. But it is still super fast.

Its still in beta, so if you suggest it at their site maybe they'll add wi-fi to the official release.

Not to hijack the thread, but to clarify - are Jivetalk et al Instant Messaging software? It strikes me that there are now many such programmes, but I always assumed that if you used MSN Messenger you could only talk to others on MSN, and the same with Yahoo etc. Is this no longer the case, and are there IM programmes out there that you can use to have conversations with people who are logged on to other IM software? If so is Jivetalk one of those?

yes you are correct, the point of jivetalk is that it can centralize all of your im clients into one, thereby reducing homescreen clutter. it is possible to integrate several of your im clients using jabber transports and gmail, but yahoo doesn't play nicely with that. the only advantage using gtalk that i saw was that gtalk integrates it's message into the inbox. otherwise, jivetalk is the best 3rd party software i've used for the bb.

Aim 2.0 integrates messages into your inbox also. by far, aim 2.0 is THE BEST FREE blackberry AIM client.

Thanks both. I've noticed a lot of posts waxing lyrical about AIM and also looking forward to a new release. I reckon I'll try that first before paying for Jivetalk.
