With all of the rumors of AT&T cutting back on EDGE, what's the likelyhood/purpose of them carrying the 8900?

Theyll probably wait on the rumored (and most likely coming out) 3G 8900.

Yep Ranx is correct on that. Or maybe, just maybe, the 9520 and/or 9220 this is nothing but pure speculation on my part however.
    Device history: 8100 > 8320 > 8900 & 9530. Keep crackin'

I believe they wont get the 9520 as Verizon again i believe has a US exclusivity on the Storm.
Rogers is getting it because Bell and Telus dont and because "Rogers <3 RIM" - most amazing carrier-manufacturer ever.

I've been sitting pondering that for the past two weeks, but I think I'm going to settle with the Bold instead of the 8900... And TMO's announcement of the 8900 release kinda put the nail in the coffin for me.

Lol and as I type this, AT&T's Bold commercial comes on TV. IT'S A SIGN!!!

I cant wait to see the new devices which sound like the enhanced ones we have now.

    Magnum - touch screen bold
    ??? - 3G Javelin
    ??? 3G Pearl Flip
    ??? Proably a 3G Storm....
??? And I think there was a 3rd which was more of a mashup of the Bold/Storm

Any insiders got some scoop for us drooling fools??

With the Promise from Ralph De La Vega about ONLY 3G devices, I don't see the Javelin hitting AT&T's Lineup.

What I don't understand is that they just released the 8320 with WiFi, which is an EDGE only device. They have TONS of berries out there with no 3G and plenty of old iPhone's. Are they really going to abandon the EDGE/2G network that quickly and leave all of those customers upset?

I don't see it happening. Now maybe they won't be releasing the 8900 until a 3G version comes out, but I don't see 2G going away any time soon.

BGR says RIM had some AT&T-branded 8900s at CES...

Fear squasher: BlackBerry Curve 8900 still coming to AT&T

But I think I'll go with the Bold still... It think. I seriously need a hands on test for myself with the 8900...

The Magnum is not the Bold w/touch. The Magnum is AKA the 9220. The Bold w/touch would be known as Pluto.

Hahaha... tell me about it... I had just read the post about it on my BB as I was walking into the store... I couldn't help but ask about it. LOL At first I thought he was going to deny it... after the 1st rep I asked had this dumb look on her face... LOL That's when the resident store geek confirmed that it was coming. (Him I believe... LOL) Now the hard part... waiting.
