Sometimes it takes up to 10 seconds for the auto dim to kick in when you cover the led indicator, so some of you saying it does nothing, make sure you give it a little time.
It takes many professionals versed in many different area's to help the masses, I am just a single drop in that pool.

Having the same problem with my 8320 but i dont think that mine is because of an update. I just simply think i have dropped mine a time to many, but when i press on the screen the lights will come on, and if i take the cover off the back and just press on the battery the lights will come on... strange stuff!

I am having the same problem with my 8300. The keypad/trackball lights flicker, dims then shuts off completely. They won't come back on, even if it's dark, unless I press the back of the phone (battery/battery cover) the lights come on very bright. Any thoughts?
