    8310 Newbie - I'm lost!

    I just got a sweet 8310 with ATT and need some serious help, this is my first smart phone.

    I've been having a lot of trouble getting other themes and apps to get anywhere close to working.

    I hook my phone up to the computer and the desktop manager recognizes it and it shows it is connected. When I try and install the .alx file it says there are no applications available for my device. I have always made sure to read to scant instructions in the zip files and that I am getting programs specifically for the 8310 but I can't manage it.

    Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

    Sounds like you don't have an OS loaded. Download the current OS that you have installed on the device and then install it on the computer (run the .exe after downloading and this will install it on the computer). Until this is done you will get the error that you are experiencing.

    I see, that is interesting that it wasn't included as part of the installation from the included cd and I haven't been able to get ANY help from the Blackberry website. ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

    blackberry website isnt too helpful

    Sometimes the BB website is hard to navigate, but once you know where to go, the answers are usually there. The Best place is the BlackBerry Technical Solution Center. And really, for support, unless you bought directly from RIM, or have a support contract with them, they expect you start with your Carrier's Customer Support.

    You have too install the latest device OS on too your computer. Currently, you are getting that message because the CD that came with the device doesn't install the device OS.

    I am also having the same problem. I downloaded the OS on my computer, installed it, did my modifications, syncd it, ran app loader, nothing happened.... uninstalled the OS, reintalled it, did my modifications... still nothing.... im also lost....

    All you have to do is delete the vendor.xml file. I had this problem and tried so many ways to intall and uninstall when all I have to do is delete that.and all Thanks to pinstack for this.

    ok let me try again, ill reinstall the OS on my desktop. then I will just delete vendor.xml.. and thats it? it will clear ptt and probably unlock themes? is that right?
