    8310 Dials on its own

I bought a curve for a friend a couple months ago. Recently it has been dialing out by its self. In the middle of the night it will make a call. I have watched it sit there on the bed and after a period of time the screen will light up and dial a number without ever touching the phone.

It has the stock 4.5 os that came with the phone.

    Any ideas?

is it the same number that it dials? Is it a random number or a regular phone number?

I would try and do a backup and restore then wipe the phone and restore the phone back up and see if it continues. Does your friend place the phone in his pockets all the time? Maybe he might have a sticky send key thats redialing numbers.

Maybe his house is just haunted.

Actually, mike and noob have a valid prospect. If its dialing the same number, I don't know what could be doing that, maybe a sticky speed dial button. If it seems like random numbers, it could be the sticky send key.

Like I asked earlier, is it a random number, or is it the same number it dials?

Gotta know the problem before you can find a solution...

What ever icon is selected when the phone is set down, is randomly activated by the phone. It acts as if the trackball is pressed down several times. I swapped trackballs and it still happens. I'm going to reload the OS and see if that cures the problem.

Could be the enter button (bottom right) is a tad too sensitive. Do you keep it in your pocket or in a case? Someone mentioned about liquid ingression; that can happen without your knowledge (I used to manage a service centre, and worked for a number of years as a technician) it's amazing that even just the moisture from being in your pocket can cause corrosion on the circuit board etc.

Let us know how you get on with the OS reload

Does it do it when the phone is locked? If it does then you'll need to reinstall the OS, if not then it's a sticky key.

Update: I installed latest OS and most of the problems went away. Still have an issue in sms. It starts sending messages on its own. But, not all the time.
