    Lightbulb 8300 Sluggish Performance

It's been weeks since I powered down my 8300, and performance started to get sluggish. So I took some drastic action and removed the battery for a few seconds, reinstalled, and after a bunch of stuff loaded (took several minutes), it now seems to be operating normal.

    (a) Is that the correct way to "cold boot" the processor ... remove/reinstall the battery pack?

    (b) Is there a better way to restore normal performance when things get slow?

    (c) Does it hurt the system to just leave in powered on for a span of several weeks?

    Re: 8300 Sluggish Performance

You may want to try an OS upgrade, the latest is posted here:
    https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...3314DF2B3CB9CE

    To answer your questions:

    a) That is the correct way to do a battery pull except leave it out for at least 30 seconds before reinstalling.

    b) OS reinstall is what I do if things get really slow, or you can try clearing some memory, see this thread:
    http://blackberryforums.pinstack.com...lackberry.html

    c) No it shouldn't hurt the system to leave it powered on, but a battery pull is good at least once a week.

This is a program that allows you to reset phone without a battery pull. You can gain lost memory, use when you have installed ota programs/themes, or use for a fresh restart. All without taking batt cover off and prying out the batt.follow this link, and scroll towards the bottom and its called 'Soft Reset'. Available ota

    Hope this Helps!

The "SoftReset" description indicates it is for the BlackBerry Pearl ... does it work on the Curve also?

I had hoped to report that it worked, but that there were complications. However, a test quickly confirmed that it just works on the 8300. Period.

Here's the deal: In this thread, http://blackberryforums.pinstack.com...em_8300_a.html, I discussed my synch problem with Outlook 2000. This did not crop up until I used the SoftReset for a cold boot. So when I got your post about an hour ago, I used the "battery out" method; alas, I still have the synch problem.

So, I don't think SoftReset is the culpret. But I still have the synch problem.

Alas, any suggestions regarding the synch problem will be gratefully received and acted upon. Manual calendar synch is a pain!
