ive been surfing the web all morning. and for some reason. and im not losing my mind. cause a few of my workers have said the same thing to me. my curve seems to be uploading pages faster. nothing hspda speed but deffinatly noticable. has anyone else noticed this? im liking it alot. i loaded cnet.com in about 5 seconds on the home page that useually takes about 25 seconds to completely load. and nytimes was a breeze. i dont know if maybe they sent out a strong signal for the day or something. but i hope it stays this way. anyone else notice it. im in the nyc area.

AT&T was supposed to do an update to the EDGE network prior to the iPhone hitting the streets... there was some beta complaints of browsing speeds on the iPhone at the EGDE level (no 3G moaning) -

So one of the peripheral benefits for everyone else is the EDGE network gets improved for everybody... maybe with tonight's launch of iPhone... the new EDGE upgrades have been implemented and put out there for us all -

yeah I have 5 towers (can see that with my flip phones debug screen) I normally pick up at home home all with good signal (-78 or better) and yesterday all day, morning to night, the signal was down from 5 bars to 2 bars (-98) so I guess they were doing these updates to the towers then.

I'm noticing some speed increases during the last day or two... is there a site that is compatible with the BlackBerry to test the download speeds (dslreports.com is not BB compatible).

ok since my towers are back to normal here, I just went to www.dslreports.com/mspeed on the wap browser and testing this with the 200k and 600k tests
I got 246 kbit/sec and 1.241s latency on the 600k test and 192kbit/sec and 0.998s latency on 200k test. Def. faster than it was before (in the 40's)

    I just did two tests
    1 mb file - 1595 kbit/sec 1.455s latency
    1mb file - 1650 kbit/sec 2.269s latency

not really for sure how this possible?

Looks like you did the test using Opera Mini, you have to do the tests with the BlackBerry WAP browser, if you use Opera Mini the scores will be incorrect like you got. That is testing the speed of the site to Opera's servers.

I tried this and it said the test was not compatible with blackberry browsers. Hmmm

Same here--and it said that the Opera test was unreliable.
