    83xx - cam/wifi/gps

why would a middle model be required? it'd make more sense just to have an 8300 with just cam (scaled down version with a cheaper price tag) and a full model (cam/wifi/gps with a beefier price tag). leaving off the gps for another model is such an asinine idea. I hope this doesn't turn out to be their final decision.
    Ninja, Takeshi, et al:

I think, especially given the industry waiting for the reaction to the iPhone, RIM wants to be sure it bolsters itself against the fact that plenty of people will give the iPhone a look simply because it is an Apple product.

There are normal, everyday cell-phone users, there are techno-obsessed cell-phone junkies, and there are diehard loyalists to a brand (eg Blackberry). Now that Apple is entering the fray, no one really knows how many among us from the techno-obsessed and brand loyalist categories are going to jump ship to the iPhone (not many average users are BB users, and with the iPhone hitting the market I'd think even fewer will). Granted, the iPhone seems like more of a leisure/personal device than something to displace the boring-but-consistent functionality of a Blackberry, but still, it's obviously got all kinds of industry people scratching their heads and wondering. Personally, I think the 83xx in all of its guises is geared to retain the normal corporate/business BB user who might be tempted to nab the iPhone. Including the cam serves this purpose on some level; it makes the 83xx less a corporate-friendly product and more "personal." Adding the options for WiFi (and Wifi & GPS) make it even more tempting, though not necessarily for "personal" users who might consider the iPhone.

The only reason I could see for them offering GPS on only the one model is to make sure that anyone who has any paranoia vis-a-vis GPS and privacy doesn't defect or instantly discount the 83xx on that basis.

I think it's a bit odd, personally, but these days, with the competition between hardware manufacturers heating up, it's much more like Europe -- it's increasingly less about what network you're using and much more about who makes your phone, and more choices is better than fewer, I 'spose.

I'm going to try and hold for the 83XX, I'm not sure I can now we think that the 8320 will be TMO. I hope the 83XX has a bit of a different look. I do like the silver but I say, "what else ya got?"

I will have to see the 8320 paired up next to the 8800 (if T-Mo gets the 8800) before I make the decision to ditch my Pearl. I really do want to give a full keyboard BB a second chance.

Been testing the 8800 but not thrilled with Cingy...I'm getting an 8703e to tide me over until a) VZW gets the 88xx or the 83xx or b) a 9xxx. My guess is VZW gets the 8820 In May/June and the 83xx in Sept. I'll prolly wait 'til Sept and make up my mind then. Not sure if I want/need a cam or WiFi and I know one/both will be available soon.

I'd keep the 8800 until the 8300 and then sell it on ebay or craigslist.

The beauty of it is that they'll always be a better BB coming out. If it's not the 8800, it'll be the 8300 or the 9xxx series.

I just viewed the sample video from the device that was posted on the site. The 8320 reminds me of my 7100t with that blue-greyish color. I like black better LOL I think I'll hold out for the 8800.

LOL I may have to outright buy the 8800 or my Pearl will have to crash before I get the 8800 though. I just spent $330 on a new backup phone (which has now become my main cell phone) that I needed for my field of study
