Yes, I did try to reformat the card out of the 8300, using the SANDISK card reader which was in the pack. I tried to reformat on my desktop which is running XP Home

Interseting, and the desktop still only sees 1.6gb? Are the BB folders gone that the device placed on the card?

The BB folders are gone, but the desktop sees only 1.68gb

The file system offered is either FAT or FAT32 - but no difference between the two formats, I still get only 1.68, however I format

computer management window pops up so that is OK, then disk manager shows me 1.69gb on f: (the card) which is FAT32 (coloured blue as "primary partition") and 4.00gb unallocated

ok, delete your 1.69 GB partition. after that it should be only 1 partition with 6 GB unallocated, format it with fat32. hope it will succeed

    Re: 6gb micro sd card

Something funny must be going in other settings because although I am administrator on my computer (I just checked my user accounts), the option "delete partition" is greyed out when I right click on the partition, or want to select it from the drop down menu. This greying out is not specific to my F: drive where the card is, but for all drives

I tried this on my work portable as well just now, but as I am not an administrator there, it won't even show me the drives

ok, maybe you can try to install something like partition manager or if you want a freeware you can try to google it.

I think your solution should work and I will try with a friend's computer tomorrow. If not ... I will ask the guys in our IT department to maybe do it remotely sometime next week.

Thanks very much for helping me on the way
