If you have the 8310 curve, the answer is NO.

the ringer on my 8310 seems much louder than a buddies 8320. he's running the 4.2 OS, compared to me running the 4.5 OS.

I've been running .55 for a while now and I haven't noticed a distinct difference in volume. Is it really that much of a difference?

I use my phone as my alarm to wake me up in the mornings. I upgraded to 4.5 two weeks ago. I can tell a big differnce in the volume. Its no where near as loud when I had 4.2 installed

Yes, the .55's volume is about 35% less than that of the 4.2

To be honest, a bit too loud. I get people looking at me in the store when I get a chime from google talk or BBIM.

Yes! Use MP3 Gain! My volume is louder now than when I was running 4.2. Do a search in this forum for the download site or just google it (which is what I did). You do have to download it onto your pc though. Then, plug your BB in. Run Mp3 Gain, and choose a file from your Bb to change. Also, make sure to set your target volume to about 101. This program will change volume without changing the file size. It will also change ringtones too. I've done it for ringtones I downloaded, but haven't tried yet for preinstalled ones. ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

4.2 speaker/ringer volume is the best! the latest release from att 4.5 sucks! i've given up on all the 4.5's and mp3 is a joke:-) some try to say they've fixed the speaker/ringer levels on 4.5's but they havent and i dont think they will. att 4.5 release has browser problems and no access to the "about" menu to see what version you're using after you upgrade.
