I am new to the Blackberry and the Storm is my first. I have my good messages and bad messages with the Storm. I have always been a "hunt & peck" typist so the SureType is great for me. I have a problem going back within a paragraph to a misspelled word. I gently move my finger over the blue cursor. Sometimes it transforms to the clear cursor and moves with my finger and other times it does not respond at all. What am I doing wrong?
Also if the cursor transformed to clear and I move my finger to drop it into the right place, my finger obscures my view so I cannot see the cursor position. I have experienced the clear curse move ahead of my finger, but I find this "balky" and cannot get it to work.

Does anybody have a solution? Is this an item that others have trouble with and are there software fixes?

I have posted in detail about my Bold experiences. To summarize I bought my first Bold from Rogers & it was defective, then I bought one from AT&T & it had problems, number 3, 4, & 5 also were bad. AT&T admitted they were defective. Also they all came from different AT&T stores.

Not one to quit, I purchased Bold #6 a week ago, from Best Buy. This one is superb. So good in fact that I've decided that I no longer want a Javelin / Curve 8900. I'm still convinced the 8900 will be a fantastic BlackBerry. However my Bold is a better ergonomic fit for me, than I could have anticipated.

I was on Verizons doorstep the day the Storm was released. Unfortunately I got a defective one with a very loose display. I returned it for another & that one crashed randomly & differently each time I attempted to use it. However I was able to identify that even if working properly it didn't fill my needs as well as the Bold does.

I'm glad that I was determined to get a properly built Bold. I am enjoying this one more than any prior BlackBerry ever. Yes, it still has a poor browser for certain sites like PinStack & other forums, but now that I have one that excels in all other areas, I will wait for RIM to resolve this issue.

    Cheers

I've had the Storm since the day after they were officially released (Sat...after the Friday release) and I hate mine.

A little background....this is my 3rd Blackberry and I use it for work via BES. I'm part of the UAT in my company for the Storm and have been using it for a few weeks for both personal use and business.

I can't stand the typing...when I type in portrait mode, it doesn't learn any new words without me manually adding them into the dictionary, which is a pain compared to the other BBs. If I type in Landscape mode, the cursor randomly goes just behind the last character typed and I can't get rid of it. (think if you add a ? to a sentance and the cursor is randomly placed behind it...you can't hit enter without the ? kicking down a line). I can't type business email like that!!!

I have a very hard time answering incoming calls...it will vibrate once then ring. I pick it up and the answer button on the touch screen is in portrait or landscape...it will only answer in portrait mode for some reason. I also cannot use the green call button on the phone itself to answer the phone.

Apparently, my fingers are too fat to use the full keyboard, as I cannot seem to get any better than medocire at best with it. My 8830, I could bang out emails and texts as if I was using a laptop...with the Storm it takes me literally 5 times as long. I find that I simply don't want to use it for work email because it's so frustrating.

The update from .65 to .75 required me to wipe all my pictures, contacts and any apps that I had downloaded. Apparently, the POS wouldn't use the 8Gb card that came with it to store the download and run it...it had to be on the physical phone. There's nothing more annoying than having a crappy phone that you think will be fixed with an upgrade, and having to wipe it in order to find out that the upgrade didn't fix anything.

The lag in the transition from portrait to landscape is legendary on my phone. It literally is 2-3 seconds, not including the random freezes that seem to happen when I move it.

All in all, I'm EXTREMELY disappointed with the phone, and I was uber excited about getting my hands on it. I was so upset that I called Verizon and had them send me a refurbished 8830 to replace it. I'll be putting this one on Ebay as soon as I get the 8830.

I wouldn't pay $50 for the Storm, let alone $200. If anyone wants to offer $500, I'll sell it to them...includes leather holster, home charger, car charger and silicone skins.

    Heres what I think

Mark Theodor Helvi'virr: Hey watch it I still love my 87 better then a curve or a pearl any day.
    Matt Cook: Hahahaha
Matt Cook: What about a bold ?!?!
Mark Theodor Helvi'virr: Not as good as a bold but still better then the first two.
Mark Theodor Helvi'virr: I wanted a bold till I got my storm but now I'm happy with the way things worked out I love it.
    Matt Cook: Oh?
    Mark Theodor Helvi'virr: B)
Mark Theodor Helvi'virr: Its a great device.
    Matt Cook: Tmo?
Mark Theodor Helvi'virr: None of the software issues of the curve great media options tons of customization options even with out the themes. Love the built in spell check even last you add a custom dictionary as you go. Free 8 gig memory card screen and speaker quality are aces and no track ball or click wheel for me to wear down.
Matt Cook: Wow. I want a storm now hahaha those are some cool new features
Matt Cook: What's the screen like?
Mark Theodor Helvi'virr: The most updated versions of all the classic bb apps and comes with tons more built into it. The screen is massive because its your keyboard to the rez is amazing dude seriously like a mini plasma tv.
Matt Cook: Holy crap!! Is it odd getting use to a onscreen keyboard?
Mark Theodor Helvi'virr: You can flip it and get a classic cell phone keyboard when your in a hurry or go side saddle for the full keyboard when you have time.
    Matt Cook: Oh cool
    Matt Cook: Camera quality?
    System message: File sent: button%20cake.jpg.
Mark Theodor Helvi'virr: You tell me.
Mark Theodor Helvi'virr: Took that pic last night at my sisters bday party.
Mark Theodor Helvi'virr: Haven't used my video camera yet.
Matt Cook: That's some good quality
Mark Theodor Helvi'virr: And its so cool to have all my music with me. I have been listening to it on the speaker this whole time which is loud and clear.
Matt Cook: Oh well that's good I found the speaker can be a lil "tinny" sometimes
    Matt Cook: On the curve
Mark Theodor Helvi'virr: If you have a txt in your in box you can hold down ur finger on the persons name and it will scan and show you everything from call logs to emails from that person.
Matt Cook: Holy crap bow that's a cool feature
    Mark Theodor Helvi'virr: Yea.
Mark Theodor Helvi'virr: Down sides not enough games. A little buggy. The learning curve is gonna be a bitch for non bb users and even then pin is what saved me tons of time and trouble. The down side to having a mp3 / movie media center a camera and a bb all in one is if u use them all regularly it brings down batt life much faster. The speaker is a lint magnet and its kinda hard to clean.
Matt Cook: Hmmmm I wonder how prone to scratches it will be and yea I agree on the battery life, is their extended one avail?
Mark Theodor Helvi'virr: I got the screen protector and the silicone skin so no scratches thus far. Have to check on the battery.

LMAO That's hilarious. I laughed all the way through it. But it was a good review straight from the device. I wonder how long it took to copy all of that here.
