Yes, a wipe removes all data and the OS, and the Return To Factory removes all 3rd party apps, settings, messages etc.

That's my understanding of it anyway.

To follow up on what azstar said a wipe from the device sets your device back to factory type settings. Wiping with jl_cmndr totally removes the OS from your device.~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

Well if you think it could just be a 3rd party app causing issues, try the less extreme wipe first and see if that helps, you could always take it further if you had to. You may not need JL_Cmder for the set to factory type wipe. On my curve i can go to Options/Security/GereralSettings/Wipe Handheld.

With JL_Cmder you can reset to factory or just complete wipe

I forgot all about that since I just do factory from my handheld and complete from jl. I can always count on you to set me strait. I agree about going the less invasive way first though.
