No, the phone is setup just like the 8830 WE where if there is a CDMA signal it won't use the GSM bands.

I thought the Vondafone version was GSM and not the World Phone like the 8830.

So would it be safe to say that it can be unlocked if its the Vondafone version? Or is there some other reason why this willnot work?

The Vodafone 9500 can definitely be used on AT&T. In regards to the Verizon 9530 nobody actually knows, it's only speculation. 50/50 chance.

My answer was wrong. I didn't see the vodafone part. Yes that one should be able to be unlocked for use on any GSM network. I don't know all the info about the 3G bands but that would be the only issue if there were any.

The 9500 does not have to be "unlocked". It has quadband GSM, so no unlocking to be done.

I thought the phones for each carrier comes locked to the carrier you brought it from untill an unlock code is applied to it.
