Thinking about saying goodbye to the Storm

So I am and will always be a Storm lover but I HATE Verizon service.

The reasons for my possible change

    1. It's expensive
    2. Service in my area sucks(allow me to force ROAM dangit)
    3. I do still miss my trackball
    4. Video playback lags
    5. RIM's new "Deal with it" attitude
    6. There are too many small things wrong with it that make me want my 8800 back
    7. T-Mobile launches the 8900 the day before my 30 days is up

So assuming that the 8900 does in fact come out February 11th as stated on many sites, I am going to cancel my Verizon account and move on to the 8900. I plain and simple need to have UMA calling for the area I live in. My phone is basically useless here. I used to work for T-Mobile and had their service for almost 2 years and loved in. And with their MyFaves service I can get away with a 300 Min plan as I mainly talk to only my GF on the phone and a couple co workers. Most of my useage is from DATA and SMS/MMS. So it will suck to say goodbye to my beloved Storm but I think the switch is nesessary for the UMA feature.

Good luck, Celica. Hope the 8900 works out for you.

It kinda defeats the purpose of having a phone if you can never get reception. Good luck. Make sure and give me your new PIN.

Will do. Doesn't desktop manager backup BBM contacts?

I would but the UMA is a must have for me where I currently live. And at this point, the $200 for the Storm is seeming a bit expensive since it doesn't work correctly and I can get a good deal from Amazon on any T-Mobile BB I want. Actually I am second guessing going to the 8900, may just go to the 8120 or the 8320 to save some money

I'd take a Curve over the Pearl any day. Gotta have the full keyboard!

So you're going from one newly released device to another newly released device. Like the Bold and the Storm, I'm going to place a bet that the 8900 will more than likely have issues as well... I hate to say it, but I think BETA Culture is here to stay. Not to blaspheme the BlackBerry brand, I love it, I truly do, but the HTC G1 is a very nice device. Well thought out, and has minimal issues; works out of the box. Maybe take a look at that?

Either way, good luck with your decision.

The main reason the 8900 is even a thought is because it's being released by T-Mobile. God they test their phones like CRAZY before releasing them and have a Stable OS right out of the box. The problem with the Storm OS is that the OS was not made for a touchscreen, rather it was edited to work with touch. I love my Storm its just I HATE Verizon signal in my area.

I did the same... ported into VZ from Sprint to get my hands on the Storm. Service is total crap at my home and the device was OK at best IMHO. I ported into Tmo for the 8900, which I now have. I love it. It is by far my favorite blackberry to date. Other then portrait mode video screen, I cannot see a single other reason why the Storm is better then the 8900.

    Good Luck

I'm on a corporate Tmo account... And I'm good friends with our Tmo rep.
