I had to do a selective restore from a backup of my 8830, just connect your storm, open desktop manager, open the latest backup from the curve in the advanced backup/restore. Copy the databases you want from the backup file to the device. NOTE: This WILL overwrite any data you have on the device, it replaces the whole database! So if you already have contacts entered into the device, you WILL lose them.

The work around if you don't want to use Desktop Manager or are not on a BES is to take both devices to a Verizon store and they will just copy contacts from one device to the other in about two minutes.
