    Storm Issues Please help....

My girlfriend and I were on a Family plan and we broke up and she reported my phone as stolen, I didnt find this out till this morning while trying to reactivate it this morning. Verizon says that I am unable to reactivate it without her calling back in to get it reported as not stolen. I am trying to figure out a situation where I dont have to deal with her anymore.

I have found a site that if you pay 40$ you can get your phone sim unlocked so that you can use it with other carriers.

    My questions are....

If I get my phone unlocked will it still be reported as stolen if I go to another wireless provider?

What all providers can be used with a blackberry storm and will all the blackberry apps still function correctly?

    What Is the best provider?

Can websites that charge you money to get your phone unlocked be trusted?

It won't matter what you do. Until she reports it as unstolen the PIN and ESN are blocked and you will not be able to use it on any network.

She will also have to release the phone from her account before you can ever activate it on any network as well.

Ask her ever so nicely to unreport it as stolen as moderncowboy advised. Having her release it from her account to yours is also known as a "transfer of liability"

I am on the phone with verizon right now. I told them that I am willing to pay for the price of the phone and setup a new contract with them instead of me going down to the store to get a new one. They wont even unlock it and now they mysteriously lost my new account I was setting up, after i paid the security deposit...

Not true. If a phone is unlocked, stolen or un stolen, you can use it on ATT or Tmobile with a valid Sim from them.

You just can't use it with Verizon. VZW has no way of blocking the phone for GSM use.

If the PIN is blocked by RIM the Device is useless. Has nothing to do with which carrier it is on.

Subgenius, have you thought about getting law enforcement involved as you stated she mis-reported the device as lost/stolen?

You have mentioned just going to your Carrier and buying a new one. Have you offered to pay her for the phone? Sometimes money works when just asking her nicely doesn't.

If I had broken up with someone, I would not want to even see them. So I understand where he is going with this .

Hope things get better for you dude!

Don't have to see her to pay her. I understand where he is coming from. Been there, done that. A few times. ~via smartphone~
