    Storm2 Questions

    Hello,
Is it possible to enable themes from other carriers on the 9550? I remember my other BB's there was a way to do that but I have since forgot! It involved adding the carrier code in some BB file? Can anyone help me with this? I think also it was possible to edit more applications as well.

    Thank You!

I'm sure it's possible but with a device that is a week old, I would not venture down that path. These devices work best with native themes and introducing other carrier themes at this stage of the S2's life may cause a few headaches.

Just my $.02 worth. Good luck!

Now that the device is over 1 year old, can this be done?

It involves editing the Vendor.xml file and replacing the vendor ID codes beside each theme with the one from your carrier. In all honesty though, it is much easier to simply download the themes themselves as they are posted all over the net.

I know about this, as I've done it before on my 8830 World Edition.

The thing of it is, the only files on my PC are for my old 8830, not my new 9550.

    I don't understand why.

Any ideas why this might be?

If I could locate the .alx and .xml files for my 9550 I know how to do it from there.

Have you installed an OS for your 9550 onto your PC? Might sound obvious, but if you haven't, then the files won't be there.

    D'oh! No I hadn't.

But I did it and now I have another problem.

The blackberry.alx file for the Storm does not look anything like the one for the 88xx series.

Do you know how to unlock the themes on the 95xx series phones?

    Let me know.

    Thanks!

I don't know if there are any different storm themes for different vendors, since the Storm is on a limited number of carriers compared to other devices and it does not share a screen size with many other models like the 88xx & 83xx series did. There may have just been carrier specific wallpapers....really not sure though.
