So, I got a defective Storm...
I got my Storm @ 8:10am on 11/21/08... 2nd buyer!!!....But....when I got it home and did the "Crack-Stacker's" run-down, (Back-up old device/Sync new device/Load/Drool a little.../Miss out on sleep/Etc.) I noticed that I could not access the media card. Well, as any trained Stacker, I formatted my card w/the device...no go. "Media card not found." I formatted the card w/PC, no go. I put in pre-formatted card from another device in it...still no. Checked the Stacks...no issues like this reported. Checked for OS updates...a long shot of course. Still nothing! Finally, I called VZW to see if there were any known issues like this..."none reported." I asked about getting a replacement sent...not till Dec. 19th?! Oh well, I decided to keep my Storm till the "Storm" passed...(Sorry!!!Had to say it people...lol!) Well, I went into my dealer today just to see how things were going and by chance if they had more in...Yeah, right!!! (Not to mention, see the madness. ) I told the Assistant Mgr. the issue, he knows my addiction. He talked to the store MGR about an idea for me...since I was the 2nd in line and a known customer in good standing. They brought me out one from the back that had been returned earlier by a customer who, "Could not handle it all..." (Poor guy. He made a couple of calls and took one pic. Did'nt even wipe his info.) I tell you, I was relieved!!! Except for the fact that we needed to do an even swap right then! Luck for me, I had a back-up and my laptop w/me.........wipe/swap/ Booyah, I had a new device! Note: I firmly believe it was a hardware failure, due to the fact that the original Storm's screen was hard to depress on the bottom right...(might be due to poor assembly.) The new Storm works great! No lag and much smoother! Thx, VZW!!!! p.s.-I even attempted some "Stacker" Tech support, but the lady was determined to try to make a big enough scene about her Pearl, that kept deleting her emails.... Well, easy fix. I told her the solution, and she said I was wrong, she had a 4gb card in it and it wasn't full, and pretty much mind my own business. (Well, that let the cat out of the bag on the lack of knowledge.)I tried to explain the difference between device and card memory, but you should know how that went. Basically, I foiled her and her hubby's plan to make a big scene (of their obvious lack of BB knowledge..), and get a Storm as a pacifier so the wife could get his Curve...well, you know the answer they got. To make it worse, they even witnessed the Mgr giving me the other Storm. They demanded that they get that device instead of me. Whooooaa! Maybe they should have been standin' next to me yesterday, instead of snoozin', and been one of the first 5 to get it. Oh well, not my loss. (BTW-they left the store after several choice profanities around small children, and left w/both their original devices. That's the cost of an addiction. )

Glad you got to exchange it JBee! Those folks need to know better than to argue with an experienced stacker ....creating a scene doesn't always work to your advantage!

Glad you got it worked out, I had a similar problem using the Device Transfer wizard.. I'm guessing it transferred settings from my 8330, that didn't play too nicely with my Storm. Wiped the Storm and selectively restored databases (contacts, messages, calendar, etc. ;; no "settings") and everything was fine.

My first storm was defective, both the menu and end button didn't work! My new one is perfect though!
