Question re: Divx/Xvid support & MTP/MSC storage mode

Two quick questions on the Storm...

    1) Has anyone had a chance to test out Divx/Xvid videos on the Storm? Some early previews suggested that the Storm might be able to handle these formats and eliminate the need to re-encode into 3GP.

    2) phoneWreck review states that the Storm now uses MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) instead of the MSC (Mass Storage Class) as found in previous blackberries:

    Can anyone confirm this?

Hope this isn't true, MTP is generally a pain in the arse (DRM heavy, cannot manage filesystem, no drive letter in Windows --> Juice won't work, complicated drag/drop, etc).

I pray that RIM included a switch to return the Storm to MSC mode...

    Thanks.

I have played videos using the .MP4 format and they look amazing. Haven't encoded any Divx/Xvid videos yet.

Storm uses both MTP and MSC, you can choose which you want. I have a feeling once the Rhapsody application is up and running the songs will have DRM.

nice, big thanks for the reply jllama.
I don't mind the MTP mode, esp when/if I choose to get on the DRM train. I just didn't want to lose the ability to switch to MSC and assign a drive letter to the storm. Some apps won't work via MTP mode, eg. Juice (podcasts).
    thanks again.
