Memory Issues on Storm 9530
Hi Everyone - I have been reading the forums and see there are other people with issues with application memory use/memory leaks in the Storm.
When I turn on my phone, I usually have less than 15mb of available memory, which throughout the day gets eaten up and I need to do a battery pull. Here is the info I can provide... any thoughts would be appreciated.
I have heard weatherbug, & Viigo have had issues, so I have uninstalled, rebooted, but the memory issue persisted. The only space I gained was the space removed by their deletion. I have since reinstalled them. I also deleted the sample video on the device, and have all my photos stored to the 8GB memory card.
Apps running when turned on: Phone, BBM, Home Screen, Browser, Google Voice, Messages
Free Memory when turned on: 14.5Mb

Doesnt look like you are too overloaded with apps.
what do you have your SMS and messages set to delete at? 15, 30, forever...
Do you clear out BBM conversations? end chat?
do you ever clear your browser cache? when your browser is open select options>cache operations>clear history and all the other things.
other than those 3 things that are memory hogs I would suggest that you try out .151 OS alot of people are reporting better free memory.

I have it set to delete at 15, this is getting ridiculous because it just ends up freezing and I can't do anything. I'll look for the upgraded OS. Is there an official post on here someplace for that?
I have a similar issue. When I did a battery pull yesterday, it said I had "0" memory available. I only have 5 apps installed and the, weatherbug, quilcklaunch, youmail, fcebook and message forward. I rarely show more than 5mg available. My SMS messages delete on 15 and I dont use BBM. Its very annoying since the phone often resets itself.
How do I do this...?
Recently I just got a new Blackberry Storm, but when I try to hook it up to my computer it doesn't connect...
I thought this would have something to do with the memory configuration?
At the moment my memory is set at
Media Card Support : On
Encryption Mode : None
Media Transfer Protocol (MTP) : On
Mass Storage Support : On
Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode When Connected : Yes
Any idea what the problem might be?
What version of desktop manager are you running? Have you installed the usb drivers from the BB website?
I tried using the PocketMac for Blackberry and an error came up that said
[08:07:43.328] Unable to connect to BlackBerry (error 1); skipping.
I'm not sure that PocketMac is a perfect application. BB desktop manager for Mac will be out in September. In the mean time,I would suggest setting up a google account, importing your contacts and calendar into google and using google sync to update / backup your information.
Hope this helps.
I used to have that problem with the storm also. I just couldn't take how slow it was and how many times i had to battery pull. So i went out and got the tour and I'm very happy with it. I have over 100mb's of memory all the time. So if you can give up the big screen, it's really worth getting the tour...
I would suggest installing quick pull as well. I have it set to go every morning before I get up and over the last 3-4 months since i've had it, I've only had to pull the battery once or twice. It will save you a lot of frustration.
Might depend on the OS that you are using too.
I have tons of apps on my Storm, mostly running and/or installed on the memory card.
I use everything on my phone several times a day.
I only do a battery pull or use the quickpull about once every 2 weeks.
The ONLY thing that I ever clear is the browser history and data.
Rarely does my phone get below 32 megs, and that's about 2 weeks of no battery pull or using quickpull.

Hi Everyone - thanks for all the suggestions. My email notifications hadn't been coming through that there were responses. I upgrade my OS to .151 and it literally fixed everything. I would strongly suggest finding it, and installing it. Now I usually have at least 25Mb free, and the phone runs faster in general.
