    Media card issues

So i'm almost at my wits end here... Blackberry storm 9530 would not recognize any MicroSD card inserted. Tried several different ones i have laying around and none of them are detected.
Tried resetting the OS and did not help. Tried removing the battery and still no go.
I wish i can go to Verizon to exchange but i'm not a verizon customer. Bought this off CL and unlocked it.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

    1. Insure that the Media Card window is ON
    2. Encryption NONE
    3. Mass Storage ON
    4. Auto Enable When Connected YES

Does your card have the following folders:
    Blackberry
    Pictures
    Music
    Ringtones
    Video
    Voicenotes

Format the card in the Blackberry:
    Options
    Media Card
    Format

    Hope this helps

Yep i'm showing all of those enabled.
Unfortunately, i have no such option to format the media card as it is saying that there is no media card present.

Since your settings seem to be okay, maybe it's as simple as your media card is not fully inserted. One time mine wasn't, and the device did not detect the card. I ejected the card and re-inserted it; after that, it worked.

I'd take a pic and see if recognition and set up would occur if you went through the motions of looking for a place to store it. See if, once you have something to store, it recognizes the card

    otjandra,

You mentioned you have a few cards laying around. I'm not sure how they are installed on a Storm. Is it an externally installed card, or is it like the older devices where you have to install them under the battery?

If the latter is the case, as Karen has suggested, perhaps the card hasn't been seated correctly. On older devices, there is a bit of a trick to properly inserting the card which you can read about in this thread.

Otherwise, my only other thought is that somehow the cards have become incapacitated, which can happen if they are exposed to water or magnets.

ejected and re-insterted the card and still wouldn't see it - don't know if i would insert iut even further. seemed sto stop at a third of the way in and won't go further.

Also tried snapping a picture and would not recognize any other place than the device memory.

If none of the other suggestions work it may be a defective phone. Is it used. You can try the mass storage fix I posted but its really for PC to recognize the SD card. I haven't ran across this issue. Still its worth a try.

Can you try the card in another device, like a laptop or card reader?

Yeah i guess it never worked. i thought it was my memory card... but it wasn't.
Verizon won't replace it for me because i'm not their customer, so i guess i'm stuck with a storm with defective media card slot, eh?
