I Need Help With a PIN Release

I recently purchased an unlocked 9530 Storm, but the PIN is still attached to the Verizon BIS. The seller never created a BIS account, so I registered the phone hoping that I could then change the registered device to an unlocked pearl that I have so that the Storm's PIN would be released. Unfortunately, the Pearl's PIN is still attached to an inactive account. I was wondering if any of you guys could help me out. Can I contact Verizon myself and have them release the PIN because I can't get in touch with the guy I bought it from.

From everything I've read, only the prior owner can release the pin. There may be exceptions, but I'm not aware of anyone that has been successful, particularly if the device has been stolen or has a past due amount for service.

    Good luck though.

You might be able to sweet talk them but I don't think you will have much luck unless you get a hold of the seller and have them call and release it.

Man, I hate to see this happen. Seems like it's happening more and more lately with people buying used Blackberrys.

Does anyone know the email address for Blackberry Technical Support? I think I'll try my luck with them, too.

you also may want to call verizon customer service just to verify that this is not a stolen unit.

RIM isn't going to be able to do anything for you. It's going to have to be released from the carrier that it was registered on. And they won't release it without the person you got it from calling them.

I bought the phone from the original owner, so I know it's not stolen. He never registered it for the BIS service, which is why I am still confused about the PIN being attached to Verizon.

it had to be connected either to bis or bes because you can't buy a blackberry from verizon without either already having blackberry service with them or adding blackberry service when you get the phone.

Just to be clear.... Did you attempt to register this 9530 device for BIS service on an active Verizon account?

When I tried to register it on the AT&T BIS, I was notified that the pin/imei was registered to another network. I created the account on Verizon BIS thinking that I could release the pin myself, but no such luck.

You are going to have to call Verizon and see if they will let you release the PIN. If they won't you will have to get the person you got it from call and release it.
