    help with DM

    Okay so upon recieving storm number 5 I go to hook it up to desktop manager to sync my info and the phone cannot be found vzw customer service wants me to do a hard reset since I must have done something wrong. Hmm okay so list of what I've done to this storm since recieving it 1. unboxed it 2. put battery in 3. activated it. Now I consider myself a smart guy but unless I'm missing something I cannot see where the issue would have come from. Now when I plug in my old storm it connects just fine and I can back it up no issues and restore but when I plug the new one in nothing. So I turn to you folks my fellow sufferers any help other then calling customer service and rasing hell. Heres what I have going on
    Im using desktop manager 4.7
    windows 7 build 7000
    tired multipal usb ports and cords
    phone software 4.7

    1. USB BB
    2. Go to Device Manager in pc
    3. Expand usb tree
    4. If there's a yellow exclamation next to device, r click on device
    5. Select Update Driver
    6. Select No
    7. Click on Install From Specific Location
    8. Select Don't Search, You Will Choose Driver
    9. Select the driver and update

    You can also try to FORCE DM to recognize the Storm.

    Click on the word none in the bottom left corner of DM
    At connection type select USB
    Click OK
    The BB should now connect.

    I know it is taking it right back to the basics but.
    Have you tried to re run the BLACKBERRY DEVICE software on your computer again. Sometimes I re run it and load it as a "repair".

    Thanks for the ideas tried all that its still not working I think the phone is messed up since the whole time I type the t key is highlighted in either portrait or landscape I think this is it for rim and I its been a good 4 years but a horrid 3 months

    I would persevere and try #6. You just may end up with a beautiful device that you enjoy very much. Don't abandon RIM. Take that one back and give it another try
