verizon branded... got about 30 minutes with it today with a friend of a friend ... BlackBerry Storm forum
GOT to use a pre release storm.. stackers!!
verizon branded... got about 30 minutes with it today with a friend of a friend "field tester" anyway for the goods and bad..
*****this is a pre-release so i hold no grudge till final spec***** which im told is close to it..
the "clickable screen" ok this is truly like nothing we have ever seen or used. ever. as many of you have seen on video. maybe one or two may have even tried the storm.. you REALLY have to use it to understand what im talking about.. its not like the iphone.. and its not like a verizon dare.. its almost like your touching or gives you the feeling of actually touching buttons on the screen thats like not there but feels like it is.. lol.. its sweet.. but its going to take some getting used too... i personally like it but in the short time it got a tad annoying.. maybe only cause i felt rushed.. but anyway on to the goods.. i had my bold to do comparisons etc. i wish so bad this guy would of let me take pics.. i was like come on everyyyone has seen it.. blah. anyway on to the goods..
ok this and the browser are the makers and breakers... those of you who are pearl users.. or used to the suretype you will be able to tap tap tap away and fast... in emails texts memos tasks etc...
BUT... when in landscape mode try typing a web adress in without backspacing 4-89 times and your lucky.. like it took 4-5 times to type pinstack.com i was like omg.. really annoying.
landscape mode typing...
easy but couldnt get it fast or a steady pace at all.. (i think after a day or two itd be easy... but what i like about my bold is one handed operation.. you need both hands on the full qwerty.. ehh honestly not enough time to say for sure how i feel about the typing experiance..
browser.. just when you thought the bold was bright, crisp, stunning. you have not seen anything yet.. its deffinatly a notch above both the bold and the iphone..
side by side with the bold both with full signal.. sadly lol.. as much as im not a fan of verizon. it was faster then the bold.. the pages loaded in mere seconds.. and the loading images was like 1-180 in about 2 seconds.. i was like wow.. not bad.
more browser. (navigating)
confusing at first but with a quick lesson easily understood.. double tap to zoom and back button to zoom out.. annoying at times when im sitting there trying to squeez the screen to soom out lol.. some sites were laggy.. but i was told its due to it not being a full release.
speed tests i did 5
average for 5 tests was between 650-800kbps
ohhh the camera... its beautifull.. crisp clear vivid pics. i love it.. deff can be confised for a 5mp sony dig cam.. however.. it did freeze up after taking two pics and i had to reset the phone.. again cant judge on not being final spec.. all around great
its heavy.. but a solid sturdy great build quality heavy.... the bold has like a sense of hollowness to it.. like something its tight in there.. but the storm.. feels air tight solid..
media player.. ahhh the screen is amazing.. i didnt really spend to much time messing with it but.. there was a few music vids and a speed racer clip on it.. and they all looked amazing.. the screen is seriously the greatest quality density i have ever seen.. ever.
well thats my short time with the storm.. i cant wait to get the final release whenever that comes out... honestly its going to be a world for us bb users but with a short learning curve itll be easy as cake..
my honest final verdict.. i need a keyboard.. id perfer my bold or curve to the storm.. i type tooo many emails.. texts... bbm.. to deal with a touchscreen keyboard.. but as a secondary phone.. its great for me...
Man, that was a great detail review of you experience...helped me see better. THX!!! Great post.

Great review! I just can't wait for a final release I really think RIM is gonna make this a great device. It might not be for all but its gonna be for me ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~
