Question Google Maps vs. BB Maps

I just installed GGM 3.02, and its awesome! Totally supports the GPS.. I am wondering, for those who installed Google Maps, is it necessary to keep Blackberry Maps?

Please share.. Will it jack up my phone if i delete BB Maps?

You can't delete blackberry maps because certain applications such as weatherbug are reliant on it.

But may I ask what is needed to get google maps to connect to the GPS? I just downloaded it and it can't find my location..

    Thanks.

Just turn the location on.. Options>Advanced Options>GPS>Instead of E911 Only, select Location

Google maps does not rely on bbmaps... Its a standalone... So you can run It perfectly fine without having bbmaps installed...

I've been running google maps without bbmaps for quite a while now...

As far as finding your location, you need to generally be in an open area (not in your bedroom) for the gps to pick up satellites, and ofcourse have your GPS settings set to "device gps" or ewhatever external bluetooth capable gps you're using.

If your device doesn't have built in gps and you're not using an external bluetooth gps, google maps will use cellular tower triangulation to pin you roughly... The accuracy of this varies between 200m to 5000m depending on how many cell towers are around you...

    Hope that helps...

Weatherbug will give you an error and won't be able to connect without BB maps.
