Hey guys, I have the storm. Need help:

My screen keeps turning on while it's on standby about every 30 seconds. I am not going anywhere near the screen to touch activate it. It is draining my battery. How do i fix this?

    Thanks

I would try a battery pull, if that doesn't fix it, you may have a defective unit perhaps

Have you tried adjusting your timeout settings just in case?

You could also try upgrading your Operating System on the device as well if you want to try and fix it yourself. Be warned though, if you install an OS that isn't your carriers current release, you COULD void your warranty on the device.

Basically if you call for support or return the device, make sure you put the original OS back on it

Not always. I have sent back phones and it didn't matter. Just because I had already told T-Mo I couldn't get the phone to stay on long enough to do anything with it LOL

Oh and in addition to the backlight problem:

    ● Froze up once when starting game
    ● Would not unlock at all - screen would light up but could not unlock, during this time could not even receive phone calls – had to do battery pull restart
    ● Telus Mobile TV is fuzzy on all channels, froze when trying to open BBC news channel – had to do battery pull restart[/FONT]
    ● Screen would automatically turn on without any touching or pressing of buttons every 30 seconds – had to do battery pull restart
    ● it is difficult launch Blackberry Messenger when in landscape mode; user must press down extremely hard

Do you have the 9500 or the 9530?

The current Beta OS for the 9530 is the v4.7.0.83.

It is sounding more and more like you recieved a lemon though, I would contact Telus for replacement.

I have the same issue and pulling the battery doesn't fix it. Unless RIM expects us to pull the battery a few times a day which is what I have been doing.

I hate this thing so far. I'm pretty blackberry savy and i'm having a hell of a time with it. Its not a defective unit and it has the latest software.
