    Hey delfimao!

I'll try to post more through PC until the mobile version improves for ze iPhone. Hey, I only spoke the truth about RIM's stance on building phones currently.

Here's a pic of the good ol' days when BB's were just that work horses. Now, they gotta compete with yuppified corporate phones lol.

What's the matter? CIA's got you pushing too many pencils?

I'll be fine with upgrading my phone to get OS6 if it includes the latest and greatest processor, else the Droid may get another follower.

I might pick up a 7290 just to see how they feel, as I couldn't afford one when they were out. What would work on one of them units with a modern SIM? Any data, perhaps (or just voice & text)?

The 7290 is a 32mb device. Without a data plan, all you get is phone and SMS; if you get a data plan with your carrier, you get internet and MMS. However, the screen resolution is very poor by today's standards and the internet connection is very slow. Also, the sounds are monophonic so your choice for ringtones is very limited. As far as PIM functions and Corporate Email push, the 7290 is equal to or better than any BB ever, and the qwerty keyboard is the best one they've ever produced. The 7290 is extremely strong in the areas where BlackBerry specialized at the time: however it is not by any means a multimedia device.

Would a plain data plan work (like one that usually just needs an APN programmed in) or is a BlackBerry-specific plan required to just surf mobile sites?

It won't really bother me because I will be inheriting a slightly used 9700 in the next few weeks so I will just stick with that, bypass my yearly early upgrade option and wait the full 18 months I have left before getting anything new. Hopefully by then SOMEONE will have the 3G Pearl or even something newer LOL

Yeah till I can get an 8707 to put away till a rainy roaming day (it has quadband GSM + UMTS 2100 which is a good combo for global roaming). ;-)

    I used a 7290 until only 18 months ago! I still think of it as a "recent model"! Hahahaha . . . .
