will the price of the bold ever drop?

I still sincerely feel that $399 out the door for a new customer on a 2-year deal is preposterous. the $100 gift card you get in 3-4 months is a small consolation too - an instant $100 in store discount...perhaps. But man...that $399 (over $400 with tax) for a new 2-yr commitment is still kinda shocking.

Rogers started at 399.99 then brought it down to 299.99 then 249.99 and now 199.99
Same for the Flip they started at 99.99 then same day drop to 49.99 and now its at 19.99

Rogers is REALLY starting to understand the business and how to play it and ATT should learn from it (usually its the other way around lol)

Couple ways prices drop on phones
    1. There" technology" becomes old and slower then the new phones that are coming out
    2. Carriers are not seeing good sales numbers and drop the price,

Price is figured out by what it cost to buy it from the carrier and then a % markup sometimes the markup is unreasonable...

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ the bold's price tag will definitely drop. I suggested an in store rebate as well - instant discount means more attractive. I am sure for black friday and by the end of the year, curves will be going for free, pearl flips will be reduced, and bold prices will be slashed to the 150 mark. Plus, att will have to reduce prices to compete with the storm and the javelin.

If you don't want to wait, you could always check out wirefly or letstalk and see if those plans suit you.

Has anybody seen this? I got an email from NewEgg with it.

It is for a new AT&T account and a 900 minute plan.

The price of a new Bold will indeed drop. The question is when & by how much. I believe that if one watches closely between now & xmas, the pricing will become very attractive. Currently sales of the Bold is already slowing quite noticeably. Inventory is rising and RIM must stimulate sales

Something important to keep I'm mind is that the United States has more large nationwide carriers to choose from than they do in Canada. And that's not necessarily a good thing. The launch of the Bold in the US was very poor as compared to the well presented launch by Rogers in Canada. Then we cannot overlook the terrific job that Rogers & Rim did in working together so that the Bold would perform up to its capabilities. I am very impressed at the professional way the Canadian launch was done. Then after the fact, the Rogers Bold performs well, does not exhibit the software based problems of either the AT&T bold, or that of the Orange Bold first sold in the UK. Especially when Orange is noted for superb product launches, no matter what brand of phone they are offering. Then it gets worse because all the BlackBerry supporters automatically blamed it on Orange, when indeed it was not their fault. It turned out that "someone" (guess mfg) gave them some incorrect data as to what the network requirements were. So they were unknowingly caught out.
This once again proves that one cannot trust the rumors.

Buy the phone online....the last time I bought a phone online in the same scenario the 100.00 rebate was automatically included in the final sale price. Just try it. If it doesn't happen that way for you then just cancel out of the online sale.
