I just upgraded to the Bold. Love it but have a question about WiFi.
If I connect to my home WiFi and download do I get charged by AT&T. I know they have a 5 mg cap but is that just for AT&T WiFi

As far as I know if you download anything while connected via Wifi you are not charged for data, you are only charged for data if you are using your wireless providers signal.

I would seriously look into upgrading your data plan though, most providers don't charge TOO much for a more substantial data plan.

thats only while tethering. the device data is truly unlimited. however when you tether it supposedly uses a different access point, and theres a 5gig cap on THAT...

I copied and pasted this from the AT&T policies for Wi-Fi. The only device it specifies is the Bold 9000. So if you have another BB model I would contact AT&T.

it's 5GB when tethered, to do such you have to do some heavy downloading on the bold. Otherwise it's unlimited data, and wifi doesn't count towards such.

I've got a 500MB limit with my current plan with Rogers but considering all I do when I'm not on Wifi is browse the web I'll be more then ok.
