The only thing I can think of is that Google is not yet supporting the 9700. I have a 9000 and the location is more accurate on 3G (based on cell tower) than on WiFi (based on internet provider, which is about 10-15 miles off). It is supposed to work based on your cell I'd and triangulate from cell tower location.

It would be interesting to know if others with the 9700 have the same problem.

Perhaps BC may mean why it shows a Canadian IP address? I believe it's because the BlackBerry Browser goes through the RIM's servers in Ontario rather than the operator's.

I use the Google shortcut app on my BB and it works fine for me. If I go from the BB browser it works ok after signing in. But I am using a suported phone. Maybe google does not recognize the 9700?
