    Question Weather Bug Direct and Weather Eye...

    Advertisement

    Back when I had my Curve2 Weather Bug Direct was my #1 Choice to stay on top of the Weather, it was always there right on my Main Screen. I have the Bold now and tried on a couple occasions to use Weather Bug Direct for Blackberry, the first time it wouldn't work at all, so I went with Weather Eye, its a cool app, but its not Weather Bug Direct. With Weather Bug Direct I could get the local weather from atop of a Neighborhood high School, with Weather Eye I just choice my State.

    So, I thought that by now Weather Bug Direct would be ready for the Bold - not so! for some reason it downloads and works find, but its just stuck in the "Downloads" folder, pressing the menu, hoping to see some options, there are none - now, I said all that to say;

    Has anyone with the Bold that use "Weather Bug Direct" been successful in moving the Icon out of the Downloads folder and if so How?

    Thanks!

    I simply "moved" it to someplace other than the first icon in that folder. Once I did that, I could move it to a different folder (the home screen). For some reason, it just wouldn't let me move it out of the folder if it was the first icon.

    Thanks gave it a go and still I get no menu option from that Icon at all, so I moved all the other Icons around and still that didn't work either.

    You need Blackberry Maps installed and working.

    When I get to my laptop will post.

    Yes it free.

    I have it mine and my wife's Bold. It works great. I don't use the BB Maps; I simply have it installed and hide the icon.

    Hope this helps.

    To have on the home screen, I prefer the Direct version of Weatherbug. Here is a link I have for it, but you have to choose an older version of the OS like 4.5. I have been using it for over a month with no issues. http://blackberry.weatherbug.com/download

    That version doesn't work with the Bold; already tried.

    When I emailed the developer the link I posted is the one he gave me for the Bold WeatherBug Beta. Has the same features with changing weather icon based on condition and temperature on scroll over.

    It is working fine for my bold as well as my girlfriend's bold with no issues. I like it because the icon itself has the current temp on it. It also doesn't require the bbmaps. I am on OS 210 and she is on OS 167.

    Then it may work for him. I know when I tried it it did not. It remained grayed out and I could not move it or use it.

    I do like the way then newer application looks once you open it, but I like the temp showing without having to scroll over it. I plan to leave both versions installed for now.
