using my blackberry as a flashlight

Is there any chance of the bulb burning out I am wondering if it is a true flash bulb like a zenon bulb or just a high intensity led bulb. Any body know the answer on this?

I'm pretty sure it's an LED flash, I have used the flash on my 8330 as a flashlight frequently for the 1 1/2 years I was using that phone and the flash still works great.

Hmmm -- how do you use the flash as a flashlight?

Well you can either download the program or just set your video light up to be on and set your video camera up as one of your soft keys either way works although I think the app keeps it on for longer.

I used the video camera, just set the flash option in video to always on and had it as one of my options in QuickLaunch. One drawback of using the video camera is I had to keep moving the trackball to keep the BB from going dark when the screen timed out. I used my BB light every night this past summer to hunt and catch desert toads that decided my pool was a good place for a good time lol.

I believe this is the best way to go about a flashlight-like app. It's free and moving the ball isn't that annoying to tell you the truth. It is FREE and that's good for ME!

    Cheers!

Yeah the reality is that you probably won't need it for more than a minute at a time. That's how I do it but I know that everybody else I know uses the app but I'm a cheapskate lol.

Yep yep that is how I use it also. Before I go to bed to check on the kids I use the flash on the video camera set to on. It works great and is very bright.

I always used to do this with my 8310/8900/9700. Free's absolutely better never bought anything for any of my devices. There are always ways to get them for free

A couple weeks ago we had some outages at night. As I stumbled up the stairs in the dark, I used just the screen to give me a little light. Turning the video light on is SO much brighter -- thanks for the tip!!
