I don't have an answer for you but I think Japan works off of GPRS. I don't know what Canada works off of.

japan mostly works off of wcdma.....as for the bold working there i would think you shouldn't have any issues as the iphone is being or has been released there....i know when i was there last my curve didn't work...but that was before i got the 8320....i will be returning to japan in the next few months and will reply back if no one else has on the workings of the bold on thier networks

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ I want to say no to this one...I know that the japanese run off of different frequencies then what we are used to. I was told that a japanese cell phone wouldn't work here in America, but I could always be wrong.

it makes sense though that our technology wouldn't work in the land of the rising sun..they're far more advanced!

there was a thread on this a while ago. yes it will work, japan has 2 carriers that run HSDPA 2100. NTT and SoftBank Mobile. You will have to check with tmobile if they have roaming agreements with either of those carriers, but the bold will work.

I doubt that it wouldn't. Japan carries the bold don't they. If so; go to the carrier and find out which Band that Japan pushes. The you can get a better idea if the blod will work or not.

    Looks good...

T-mobile site says roaming agreements with the following:

NTT DoCoMo 3G (Need 3G Handset) Yes

Softbank Mobile Corp 3G (Need 3G Handset) Yes

Next question is if the blackberry "unlimited international data" plan will work.

If so, I think it's possible to avoid SMS and Voice, and run on Bbbery messenger, web, and blackberry email and not get screwed on the bill!

    Thoughts? You guys rule.

Even if anyone answers you on here, I would still call tmobile just to make sure.

Got answer directly from T-mobile. Yep. With the bold it is now possible to use unlimited data in Japan. AMAZING!

Now to find a Bold and unlock it
